Certificate update for raw pet food from the US

As of April 22, 2025 the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will begin to issue a new version of the zoosanitary certificate for raw or minimally heat-treated pet food for export to Canada. The new version of the certificate includes updated conditions applying to the risk of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in unpasteurized milk. There will be a 3 month transition period ending July 22, 2025 when either the previous or the new version of the certificate will be accepted for import into Canada.

Mise à jour du certificat pour les aliments crus pour animaux de compagnie en provenance des États-Unis

À partir du 22 avril 2025, le département américain de l’agriculture (USDA) commencera à délivrer une nouvelle version du certificat zoosanitaire pour les aliments crus ou ayant subi un traitement thermique minimal destinés aux animaux de compagnie et exportés vers le Canada. La nouvelle version du certificat comprend des conditions actualisées relatives au risque d’influenza aviaire hautement pathogène (IAHP) dans le lait non pasteurisé. Il y aura une période de transition de 3 mois se terminant le 22 juillet 2025, au cours de laquelle l’ancienne ou la nouvelle version du certificat sera acceptée pour l’importation au Canada.
