CFIA-AIRS Updates March 31, 2026

A) Foot and Mouth Disease AIRS Updates

New Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) admissibility requirements/instructions have been implemented in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) for commodities originating from Greece. The affected commodities are listed in the following link:Foot and Mouth Disease – Countries officially recognized by Canada as free of the disease. The changes applied can be found in, but are not limited to, the following chapters: 01, and 05.

B) Chapter 01

Chapter 01 was published to:

i) modify the import conditions of the following HS codes with the end uses “Breeding”, “Feeding for slaughter” and “Other end uses” originating from all States of the United States except Michigan:

01.02.21.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.29.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.90.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old

ii) change the release recommendation from “Refer to CFIA – veterinary inspection” to “Refuse entry” for the following HS codes with the end uses “Breeding”, “Feeding for slaughter” and “Other end uses” originating from the State of Michigan:

01.02.21.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.29.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.90.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old

iii) modify the description of the following OGD extensions:

01.02.21.1007 – Sexually intact cattle (other than male calves between 9 and 21 days old)
01.02.29.1007 – Sexually intact cattle (other than male calves between 9 and 21 days old)
01.02.90.1007 – Sexually intact cattle (other than male calves between 9 and 21 days old)
01.02.21.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.29.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old
01.02.90.1008 – male calves between 9 and 21 days old

C) Chapter 30

Chapter 30 was published to modify the import conditions of the following HS codes originating from New Zealand:

30.02.12.1095.02 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – avian
30.02.12.1095.04 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – equine
30.02.12.1095.06 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – rabbit
30.02.12.1095.07 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – ruminant – other than bovine
30.02.12.1095.08 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – porcine (less than or equal to 1L)
30.02.12.1095.10 – Bulk fetal bovine serum and plasma or derivatives, dried or liquid
30.02.12.1095.11 – Bulk bovine serum, plasma or derivatives, dried or liquid
30.02.12.1095.13 – Blood, serum, plasma or derivatives for in vitro use – fetal bovine serum
30.02.12.1095.14 – Bulk ruminant serum (other than bovine), plasma or derivatives, dried or liquid
30.02.12.1095.27 – Bulk porcine serum, plasma or derivatives, dried or liquid (more than 1L)

D) Updates to FEED Admissibility Requirement

Updated admissibility requirements have been implemented in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) for commodities designated for the end use “livestock feed” from all countries.

The implemented changes can be found in the following chapters: 04, 05, 07, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 21, 23, 25, 26, 28, 29, 31, 32, 35, 38, 39, 44 and 47.
