CFIA-AIRS Updates October 22, 2024

A) Chapter 01

Chapter 01 was published to:

i) remove the miscellaneous code “More than 2” and modify the import conditions of the following HS codes with the end use “Canadian animals returning to Canada” originating from the United States:

01.06.32 – Psittaciformes (including parrots, parakeets, macaws and cockatoos)
01.06.39.2096 – Songbirds over 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2097 – Songbirds less than 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2106 – Other birds over 3 days old
01.06.39.2107- Other birds less than 3 days old

ii) modify the registration type list of the following HS codes with the end use “Canadian animals returning to Canada” originating from the United States:

01.06.39.2096 – Songbirds over 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2097 – Songbirds less than 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2106 – Other birds over 3 days old
01.06.39.2107 – Other birds less than 3 days old

iii) remove the miscellaneous code “Accompanied” and modify the import conditions of the following HS codes with the end use “Travellers & Personal use and not for resale or distribution” originating from the United States:

01.06.32 – Psittaciformes (including parrots, parakeets, macaws and cockatoos)
01.06.39.2096 – Songbirds over 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2097 – Songbirds less than 3 days old (Passerines of the sub-order passerii (oscines))
01.06.39.2106.06 – Toucans
01.06.39.2107.06 – Toucans

B) Chapter 06

Chapter 06 was published to:

i) remove the miscellaneous codes “From a quarantine area for Cydalima perspectalis – without soil” and “From a non-quarantine area for Cydalima perspectalis – without soil” from the following HS codes with the end use “Propagation (growing or sowing)” originating from the States of Michigan, New York and Ohio:

06.02.10.0023.24 Boxwood – unrooted plants (Buxus spp.).
06.02.90.0032.37 Boxwood – rooted plants (Buxus spp.).

ii) modify the import conditions of the following HS codes with the end use “Propagation (growing or sowing)” and the miscellaneous codes “With soil or related matter (including growing media not approved under the CGMP)” and “Without soil, related matter or growing media” originating from the United States:

06.02.10.0023.24 Boxwood – unrooted plants (Buxus spp.).
06.02.90.0032.37 Boxwood – rooted plants (Buxus spp.).
