Charges laid following a CBSA investigation on the hiring of unauthorized foreign workers

Charges were laid on February 26 as a result of a Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) investigation into the unauthorized hiring of foreign workers by Camping Havana Resort, 9267-1551 Québec Inc., the directors of the company, Ariane and Dominic Perrier, as well as an employee, Oscar Fuentes Labrada.

The company directors must answer to one count of violating section 124(1)(c) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) for hiring 21 foreign workers who were not authorized to work in their business. As for the employee, he faces two additional charges under section 131 of the IRPA for inducing or encouraging company officials to hire foreign nationals who were not authorized to work, and for encouraging persons to work in Canada when they were not authorized to do so. According to the CBSA investigation, the offences occurred between May 2022 and April 2024.
