Clarification on Upcoming Changes to be Made to AIRS Registration Type #68 – Organic Certificate

Beginning May 26, 2025, importers/brokers will be required to provide a digital copy (image) of the organic product certificate as part of their import declaration.
This notification serves to clarify that the AIRS Registration Type #68 – organic certificate’s format remains a confirmation “Y/N”. In addition, the registration type will be updated to a materialized Licence, Permit, Certificate, and Other document(s) (LPCO), meaning that an image is required to be provided. This will require importers/brokers to upload a digital copy of the organic product certificate.
What importers/brokers should expect on May 26, 2025:

  • Provide the value “Y/N” to confirm that an Organic certificate is/not present
  • Choose “Y” when acknowledging the presence of the organic certificate.
  • Upload a digital copy of the Organic certificate that will create a Unique Reference Number (URN).

Please note that once this measure comes into effect, failure to upload a copy of the organic product certificate, and/or declaring No in the AIRS registration Type #68 field, will result in an automated reject message. It is the responsibility of the importer to familiarize themselves with the recently added organic products in AIRS and ensure compliance.

Clarification concernant les modifications à venir apportées au type d’enregistrement du SARI, no. 68, sur les certificats biologiques

À compter du 26 mai 2025, les importateurs et courtiers en douane devront fournir une copie numérique (image) du certificat biologique des produits importés dans le cadre de leur déclaration d’importation.

Ce message vise à clarifier que le type d’enregistrement du SARI (no. 68, certificat biologique) conserve son format actuel de confirmation « Oui/Non » mais que les types d’enregistrement seront mis à jour pour devenir des LPCA matérialisés (licence, permis, certificat ou autre documents). Cela signifie qu’une image devra être fournie. Les importateurs/courtiers devront donc télécharger une copie numérique du certificat biologique.

Ce à quoi les importateurs/courtiers doivent s’attendre à compter du 26 mai 2025 :

  • Fournir la valeur « Oui » ou « Non » pour confirmer la présence ou non d’un certificat biologique.
  • Choisir « Oui » pour indiquer la présence du certificat biologique.
  • Téléverser une copie numérique du certificat biologique, ce qui générera un Numéro de référence unique (NRU).

Veuillez noter qu’une fois cette mesure en vigueur, le fait de ne pas téléverser une copie du certificat biologique ou de déclarer « Non » dans le champ du type d’enregistrement SARI no. 68, entraînera automatiquement un message de rejet. Il est de la responsabilité de l’importateur de se familiariser avec les nouveaux produits biologiques ajoutés dans le SARI et de s’assurer de leur conformité.
