CSCB holds successful in-person Designate Day

On April 25, 2026, more than 100 Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) designates convened in Burlington, ON, for the CSCB’s first in-person Designate Day event since 2019 .

Supported by CSCB staff and volunteers from the CSCB Education Committee, participants received a comprehensive information session on the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) from subject matter expert George Reid of Bennett Jones LLP. In the afternoon, they tested their knowledge in small groups by working through two very challenging SIMA scenarios.

This full-day event offered an engaging, informative, and fun opportunity to dig deep into SIMA compliance requirements while connecting and re-connecting with colleagues from the CSCB’s designate community. The event was an unqualified success and provides a strong foundation on which the CSCB can develop and deliver future designate offerings.

Our next Designate Day event is expected to be offered in virtual format in November 2026. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
