Customs Notice 25-18: Access to Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle border crossing restricted for oversized commercial vehicles

Ottawa, April 17, 2025

1. Effective April 21, 2025, oversized commercial vehicles will no longer be able to enter Canada (northbound) through the Saint-Bernard-de-Lacolle (Highway 15) border crossing, due to the installation of power lines and overhead cables as well as ongoing construction work related to the modernization of the port of entry (POE).

2. Vehicles of dimensions exceeding over then 5 metres (16.4 feet) of height, over then 2.6 metres (8.5 feet) in width and over then 16.1 metres (53 feet) in length are considered as oversized vehicles.

3. Oversized commercial vehicles will be required to use alternative POEs, such as the Lacolle Route 221 POE adjacent to the Overton Corners NY POE. The hours of service for commercial vehicles at the Lacolle Route 221 POE are Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm.

4. Oversized commercial vehicles may also proceed to other land POEs Designated as Commercial Offices (DCS) or Highway/Land Border Offices (HWY/B).
