Customs Tariff Update

After hearing from members about rejected entries for tariff classifications that appear to be valid, the CSCB contacted CBSA. We were advised that there was indeed a change to the Tariff; however, there was no notification provided to users. CBSA has advised that they are looking into measures to avoid this happening in the future.

The CBSA website has now been updated with these changes and the CCS has been updated as well. Changes are noted in T2014-2, available at: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2014/menu-eng.html. Since these changes are scattered throughout the tariff, CBSA has provided a copy of a Customs Notice that will be issued shortly. This Customs Notice lists all items that have been changed or deleted.

Please note that these changes are retroactive to June 1 and, as a result of this amendment, importers may be eligible for a refund of the duties paid on importations made since June 1, 2014.
