D-17-01 Canadian Peat Export Certification Program

Please be advised that CFIA Policy directive D-17-01: Canadian Peat Export Certificate Program (CPECP) has been published. Peat bogs that have been sampled in the last 12 months have a transition period of 1 year to comply with key changes to the program.

Key changes to the Program are as follows:

  • Exporters will now be required to develop a Preventative Control Plan (PCP) that detail their peat harvesting practices and how contamination will be prevented and/or managed.
  • The frequency of inspection has changed to an annual basis.
  • A fee for inspection of an export facility will now be applied.

Veuillez prendre note que la directive de l’ACIA D-17-01 : Programme canadien de certification de la tourbe aux fins d'exportations (PCCTE) a été publiée. Les tourbières qui ont été échantillonnées au cours des 12 derniers mois bénéficient d’une période de transition d’un an pour se conformer aux principaux changements apportés au programme.

Voici les principaux changements apportés au programme :

  • Les exportateurs devront maintenant élaborer un plan de contrôle préventif (PCP) qui décrit en détail leurs pratiques de récolte de la tourbe et la façon dont la contamination sera évitée ou gérée.
  • La fréquence des inspections est devenue annuelle.
  • Des frais pour l’inspection d’un établissement d’exportation seront désormais appliqués.
