Deregulation of Tomicus piniperda (pine shoot beetle)

Effective November 4, 2020, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has deregulated Pine Shoot Beetle (Tomicus piniperda).

Please refer to RMD-19-02: Pest Risk Management Document for the deregulation of Tomicus piniperda (pine shoot beetle), which describes the CFIA's rationale to deregulate pine shoot beetle, records the risk management decision, and communicates it to stakeholders.

The Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) will also be updated to reflect the deregulation of pine shoot beetle.

The CFIA will also work towards the removal of pine shoot beetle from the List of pests regulated by Canada, and Schedule II (2) of the Plant Protection Regulations.
