European Union hits pause on planned retaliatory tariffs for U.S.

European Union (EU) retaliatory tariffs, that were scheduled to take effect as early as next week, have been paused for 90 days due to the U.S. temporarily lowering the tariff rate on dozens of countries. "We want to give negotiations a chance," said European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen said on X.
