Government of Canada introduces new streamlined legislation to strengthen border security and keep Canadians safe

On October 8, 2025, the Honourable Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety introduced Bill C-12, the Strengthening Canada’s Immigration System and Borders Act. 

The Bill supports the Government’s efforts to secure borders by providing law enforcement with enhanced tools, building on Bill C-2 to target transnational organized crime, illegal fentanyl trafficking, money laundering, criminal networks, and immigration system integrity.
