The Government of Canada strengthens support for agricultural exports with a new market diversification program

At Food and Beverage Canada’s annual Policy Breakfast, the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, announced two new AgriMarketing Program streams, Market Diversification for National Industry Associations and Market Diversification for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, supported by a $75 million investment over five years (2026–27 to 2030–31) to help Canada’s agriculture and agri-food sector, including fish and seafood, respond to market instability through greater diversification.

Beginning February 13, 2026, eligible organizations can apply for funding under both streams, with full details available on the program website. This new Market Diversification funding is separate from the previously announced $129.97 million under the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership and is designed to support all sectors, particularly those facing trade barriers.
