The America First Policy describes numerous priorities, many of which are due to be reported to the US President by April 1, 2025:
Key elements of the America First Policy
- Addressing Unfair and Unbalanced Trade; review and identify any unfair trade practices by other countries.
- The creation of the External Revenue Service (ERS) to collect tariffs, duties, and other foreign trade-related revenues.
- Being public consultations in preparation of the 2026 review of the USMCA.
- Review and assess the policies and practices of major United States trading partners with respect to the rate of exchange, specifically to identify "currency manipulators".
- Review existing United States trade agreements and consider creating new United States trade agreements.
- Review policies and regulations regarding the application of antidumping and countervailing duty laws.
- Review revenue loss and contraband implications associated with the current de minimis exemption.
- Review economic and trade relations with the People’s Republic of China (PRC) - this could result in additional tariffs.
- Review and assess the effectiveness of the exclusions, exemptions, and other import adjustment measures on steel and aluminum.
- Conduct a full economic and security review, specifically related to technology and US national security.
