Minister Hodgson strengthens energy and mining partnerships with India

Minister Tim Hodgson concluded a trade‑focused mission to India, where he met senior government counterparts and major energy companies during India Energy Week to advance opportunities for deeper bilateral commerce and investment.

The visit included the relaunch of the Canada–India Ministerial Energy Dialogue and endorsement of its new Action Plan, creating a renewed platform for expanding energy trade, long‑term supply agreements, joint ventures and targeted investment flows. Building on discussions around Indian investment and potential offtake arrangements for Canadian energy and critical minerals, both countries issued a joint statement reaffirming their complementary roles; Canada as a reliable supplier and India as a rapidly growing market, and their shared commitment to strengthening conventional energy trade and broader economic cooperation.
