Minister Sidhu meets with Italy’s Foreign Minister

On the first day of Canada’s trade mission to Italy, Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu met with Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani in Rome to strengthen bilateral economic ties. 

Building on recent G7 discussions, both ministers emphasized the importance of deepening trade, investment, and job creation to support long-term prosperity. Minister Sidhu highlighted the benefits of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and urged Italy’s ratification. They also discussed enhancing collaboration between Canadian and Italian businesses in key sectors such as aerospace, defence, clean technology, infrastructure, and energy, with Minister Tajani committing to organize a trade delegation to Canada.
