The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, led a Canada Trade Mission to Italy, joined by over 75 Canadian businesses to explore commercial opportunities in Rome and Milan. The mission reinforced Canada’s commitment to trade diversification and strategic partnerships, with Minister Sidhu meeting Italian Deputy Prime Minister Antonio Tajani to strengthen bilateral ties and encourage Italy’s ratification of CETA. He also hosted a round-table on defence and security collaboration and visited key Canadian-Italian industrial partners, including Tenaris and Stantec.
The mission saw the signing of three major agreements: a memorandum of understanding between the Canadian and Italian Hydrogen Associations, a tech partnership between DataPeak and Bonetto Group, and a strategic alliance between Lowfoot and eGlue. Minister Sidhu praised the Canadian delegation’s efforts to expand internationally and highlighted Italy’s long-term market potential, urging participants to build on the momentum and relationships formed during the visit.
