New zoosanitary certificate for pet food products imported from Mexico

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is publishing a new zoosanitary certificate for pet food products (kibble, canned food, pet treats, simple pet chews and compound pet chews) imported from Mexico. These changes to import requirements will be published on January 22, 2026, with a two-month transition period until March 22, 2026. During that time, either the new or old zoosanitary certificate can be used.

The zoosanitary conditions will be published in the Automated Import Reference System (AIRS) on January 22, 2026. For details, please see the published Notice to Industry on the APABP pet food webpage.
