Notice of extension of investigation: Certain Carbon and Alloy Steel Wire (SW 2025 IN)

The Canada Border Services Agency has today extended the preliminary phase of the investigation respecting the alleged injurious dumping of certain carbon and alloy steel wire originating in or exported from China, Chinese Taipei, India, Italy, Malaysia, Portugal, Spain, Thailand, Türkiye and Vietnam.

The Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary stage of the investigation shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the complexity or novelty of the issues presented by the investigation, number of persons involved, and difficulty of obtaining satisfactory evidence in the investigation, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue a preliminary determination or to terminate the investigation with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before September 4, 2025. A revised investigation schedule is now available.
