Notice of extension of investigations: Unarmoured Building Cables (UBC 2026 IN)

The Canada Border Services Agency has extended the preliminary phase of the investigations respecting the alleged injurious dumping and subsidizing of unarmoured building cables originating in or exported from the People's Republic of China.

The Special Import Measures Act (SIMA) provides that, under normal circumstances, the preliminary stage of the investigations shall be completed within 90 days of the date of initiation. However, due to the complexity or novelty of the issues presented in the investigations and the number of persons involved, the period has been extended to 135 days, pursuant to subsection 39(1) of SIMA.

Consequently, the decision to issue preliminary determinations or to terminate the investigations with respect to some or all of the goods will be made on or before July 29, 2026. A revised investigation schedule is now available.
