Port of Vancouver Job Action Could Begin Monday November 4, 2024

In response to the 72-hour strike notice issued by the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) Local 514, the The B.C. Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) has issued a formal notice that it will "defensively" lock out members of that Union starting Monday at 9 a.m. PT. The BCMEA has advised that they will reverse the lock out notice if the ILWU withdraws the 72-hour strike notice. In the case that the lock out does proceed, all cargo operations among association members across B.C. will come to a stop for an undetermined amount of time.
