Prime Minister Carney strengthens trade and economic partnerships with Singapore

Prime Minister Carney concluded his visit to Singapore, where he had discussions with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong on strengthening bilateral ties in trade, energy, defence, and technology, including advancing a Canada-ASEAN free trade agreement set for 2026. 

Prime Minister Carney engaged with top business leaders and investors to promote Canadian investment opportunities, noting Singapore’s $7.8 billion contribution in 2024 as Canada’s leading Southeast Asian investor. Carney also toured PSA International’s port facilities to explore expanding Canadian export capacity. The visit underscored Canada’s commitment to building a resilient economy through skilled labor, competitive industries, and global trade partnerships.
