Proposed amendments to the Susceptible species of aquatic animals

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) is proposing the modification of the Susceptible species of aquatic animals list for seven diseases:

  • Abalone viral mortality (Abalone herpes-like virus),
  • Bonamia exitiosa,
  • Bonamia ostreae,
  • Haplosporidium nelsoni,
  • Marteilia refringens,
  • Mikrocytos mackini, and
  • Withering syndrome of abalone (Xenohaliotis californiensis).

The CFIA is seeking feedback from all stakeholders on the proposed changes by May 1, 2026. For more information on the proposal and how to provide feedback, visit:

Les modifications proposées à la liste des espèces d’animaux aquatiques vulnérables

 

L’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA) propose la modification de la liste des espèces d'animaux aquatiques vulnérables pour sept maladies :

  • Mortalité virale de l’ormeau (pseudo-virus de l’ormeau),
  • Bonamia exitiosa,
  • Bonamia ostreae,
  • Haplosporidium nelsoni,
