Shipborne dunnage program extension

On January 6, 2023, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published directive D-98-08 Entry requirements for wood packaging material into Canada which includes details on the new shipborne dunnage program. At the time of publication the implementation deadline of the directive was July 6, 2023.

The CFIA’s forestry section has extended the implementation deadline by 4 months to allow more time for the industry to address implementation issues. As a result, full implementation of the shipborne dunnage program will be required by November 6, 2023. Email notification has been sent today to key partners and stakeholders.

L’application du programme relatif au bois de calage transporté par les navires est reportée

Le 6 janvier 2023, l’Agence canadienne d’inspection des aliments (ACIA) a publié la directive D-98-08 Exigences relatives à l'importation au Canada des matériaux d'emballage en bois, laquelle renfermait les détails du nouveau programme relatif au bois de calage transporté par les navires. Lors de la publication, la date prévue de mise en place du programme était le 6 juillet 2023.

La section foresterie de l’ACIA reporte la date de mise en place du programme de 4 mois, afin de permettre à l’industrie de solutionner certains problèmes d’application. Ainsi, le programme relatif au bois de calage transporté par les navires sera pleinement applicable le 6 novembre 2023. Un avis a été envoyé aujourd’hui par courriel à nos principaux partenaires et parties prenantes.
