Statement by ministers Sidhu and MacDonald on China’s preliminary anti-dumping measures on imports of canola seed from Canada

On Auguste 12, 2025, The Honourable Maninder Sidhu, Minister of International Trade, and the Honourable Heath MacDonald, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, issued a statement in response to China’s preliminary anti-dumping duties of 75.8% on canola seed from Canada.

The statement conveys Canada's disappointment with the decision, asserts that Canada does not dump canola, and pledges support for the Canadian canola industry.

“As the Prime Minister highlighted last week, Canada’s new government is developing a comprehensive industrial strategy that will help our businesses retool and reinvest to protect Canadian jobs, to build Canadian competitiveness, to meet growing demand in Canada and to develop new opportunities with international trading partners.”
