Trump announces 90-day extension of prior trade deal with Mexico

The U.S. has announced that new tariffs on Mexico, set to go into force August 1, 2025, will be delayed for 90 days due to the complexities of this particular agreement, in part because of their shared border.

The current tariffs against Mexico will continue during this 90-day extension:

  • 25% Fentanyl Tariff
  • 25% Tariff on Cars, and
  • 50% Tariff on Steel, Aluminum, and Copper.
