Update regarding the introduction of 2-factor authentication in TRACES

This message pertains to the requirement for all users to set up two-factor authentication to access the European Commission’s Trade Control and Expert System (TRACES) that was implemented as of June 11, 2024. 

Please be advised that as of April 1st, 2025, the SMS method providing a challenge code will no longer be accepted as a second factor for authenticating with EU login to sign in to TRACES. 

To ensure uninterrupted access to TRACES on that date, we ask that all users prepare now by transitioning to alternative authentication methods. The following options for two-factor authentication will still be available:

  • EU Login Mobile App, to use with the PIN Code (requires an Internet connection) or QR code scanning (can be used offline)
  • eID Authentication feature (this method not available for CFIA staff)
  • Security Key or Trusted Platform, such as Yubico, Kensington, Windows Hello or Google security keys (this method not available for CFIA staff)

If you still need to set up your two-factor authentication users should go to https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/cas, log in with the username and password used for TRACES (EU Login account) and follow the instructions. Mise à jour concernant l’authentification à 2 facteurs dans TRACES

Ce message concerne l’exigence de tous les utilisateurs de mettre en place une authentification à deux facteurs pour accéder au système de contrôle du commerce et d’experts (TRACES) de la Commission européenne qui a été mis en œuvre à partir du 11 juin 2024.

Veuillez noter qu’à compter du 1er avril 2025, la méthode SMS fournissant un code de contestation ne sera plus acceptée comme deuxième facteur d’authentification avec la connexion à l’UE pour se connecter à TRACES.

Pour assurer un accès ininterrompu à TRACES à cette date, nous demandons à tous les utilisateurs de se préparer dès maintenant en passant à d’autres méthodes d’authentification. Les options suivantes pour l’authentification à deux facteurs seront toujours disponibles :

  • Application mobile connexion UE, à utiliser avec le code NIP (nécessite une connexion Internet) ou la numérisation du code QR (peut être utilisée hors connexion)
  • Fonction d’authentification eID (cette méthode est non disponible pour le personnel de l’ACIA)
  • Clé de sécurité ou plateforme sécurisées, telle que les clés de sécurité Yubico, Kensington, Windows Hello ou Google (cette méthode est non disponible pour le personnel de l’ACIA)

Si vous en avez encore besoin de configurer votre authentification à deux facteurs, les utilisateurs doivent se rendre sur le site https://webgate.ec.europa.eu/cas, se connecter avec le nom d’utilisateur et le mot de passe utilisés pour TRACES (compte connexion UE) et suivre les instructions.
