Use of IID and CITES Permits

IID users may have noticed that for the Wildlife Enforcement Division of Environment and Climate Change Canada, the Single Window ECCRD states that: Original CITES and WAPPRIITA permits must also be physically presented to the border services officer for validation when reporting to the CBSA.

The CSCB asked CBSA if there were proposals to discontinue the requirement for a hard copy permit and were advised that there are not. The permit must be validated and signed by a BSO and legislative changes would be needed for this requirement to be discontinued.
