CCS / CTCS - Retired Status

Eligibility

Canadian Certified Customs Specialist (CCS)/Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS) – Retired is for those meeting the following criteria:

  • a Canadian CCS or CTCS designate at the time of retirement;
  • 55 or older; and
  • not employed in the field of international trade.

Individuals who are on long-term disability are also eligible for the Designate Retired status.

Annual Fee

The annual fee is waived.

Verification of Eligibility

Prospective Canadian CCS/CTCS - Retired designates must:

  • provide proof of age (minimum age requirement 55) – we will accept copies of birth certificate, driving licence, passport, or any other government-issued document, and
  • submit the Request for CCS or CTCS - Retired Status form.

Professional Development

Individuals holding the Canadian CCS or CTCS designate – Retired status are welcome to take the CCS quizzes and/or attend approved activities, meetings and events in order to keep up to date, however, there is no requirement to collect points.

How to Return to the CCS designate or CTCS Status

Those who hold the Canadian CCS or CTCS designate – Retired status may wish to resume their previous status as Canadian CCS or CTCS designates if they return to work. Individuals will be able to resume their previous status as a Canadian CCS or CTCS designate if they pay the annual fee, and in the year(s) following, meet the ongoing points requirements.

Revocation of CCS or CTCS designate – Retired Status

Status will be revoked if a Canadian CCS or CTCS designate – Retired returns to employment in international trade environment.
