CFIA Notice to Industry, Romaine Lettuce from the USA

CFIA has issued a notice to industry, and to all SFCR license holders that they intended to repeat the import control measures for romaine lettuce from California.  The decision to repeat the measure is primarily based on the US FDA state of completion of key activities under their Leafy Greens STEC Action Plan. Some action items are expected to take another 1-2 years to complete. The CFIA has notified the US FDA of this decision on June 26, 2024.

Import controls will be in effect from September 26 to December 18, 2024. Please note that the import declaration process will be the same as last fall.
