CCS Examination Results - 2011

Congratulations to the students who successfully completed the CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) course and are now entitled to use the CCS designation. The passing grade for the CCS course is 65%. The final grade is based on the results of the final examination plus the results of four tests taken throughout the year. The average grade of the 2010-11 CCS course was 73%, and the mark that occurred the most was 63%. The highest grade was 95%, with 2 students achieving this mark. The following students received the highest marks – well done!

CFIA HS Code Filter list

The CSCB has contacted CFIA regarding the January 6th, 2012 CFIA HS Code Filter list. We understand that this list will be further updated this week, but have asked CFIA to explain the delay in updating this list and if a paper release is required for goods whose HS Code has not been included on the list. Following is CFIA’s response. Sorry for all the confusion surrounding the CFIA HS Code Filter List with all the changes that resulted from the WCO updates.

CBSA posts communique to IT suppliers on Border Action Plan

CBSA Compliance Verification Priorities - January 1, 2012

The following message has been sent to the CSCB by CBSA: As you know, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is committed to publicly releasing a semi-annual list of all of its active compliance verification priorities, in the interest of transparency and the promotion of self-compliance. To that end, please find attached a copy of the January 2012 list of compliance verification priorities, in both English and French, for distribution to your members. Please note that the next update is scheduled to be released shortly after July 1, 2012.

CBP Formally Proposes More Flexibility for Post-Importation Adjustments

The following is excerpted from the 9 January 2012 edition of WorldTrade\Interactive. U.S. Customs and Border Protection has formally proposed changing its policy on the applicability of transaction value in the context of post-importation adjustments. This change would make it easier to make transfer pricing adjustments after importation and could result in some duty savings as well. U.S., South Korea meet on FTA implementation

The following is from the 9 January 2012 edition of the American Shipper. The Office of the U.S. Trade Representative on Jan. 9-10 will hold working-level meetings with South Korea in Seoul to continue discussions related to implementation of the U.S.-Korea trade agreement. The delegations will discuss each other’s respective laws and regulations related to implementation of the trade agreement, USTR said.

CBSA Message: CFIA HS Codes

The following message is from CBSA (EDI12-003). Please note that there have been changes to the list of HS codes subject to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency requirements. Changes are effective in the ACROSS system according to the attached list. The CBSA website will be updated the week of January 9, 2012 to reflect these changes. Please see attachment.
