Japan to join Pacific Rim free trade zone talks

Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said Friday that Japan will participate in talks on joining a U.S.-backed Pacific Rim free trade zone, a decision strongly opposed by farmers who say the move will ruin them. Canadian international merchandise trade, September 2011

The following is excerpted from a 10 November 2011 news release by Statistics Canada. Canada's merchandise exports grew 4.2% in September, while imports declined 0.3%. As a result, Canada's trade balance with the world went from a deficit of $487 million in August to a surplus of $1.2 billion in September. It was the first trade surplus since January 2011. CBP to Pilot Simplified Entry in Air Mode of Transportation
