CBP Withdraws Proposal for Uniform Rules of Origin for Imported Merchandise

The following is excerpted from the 2 Setpember 2011 edition of World Trade\INTERACTIVE U.S. Customs and Border Protection has withdrawn a July 2008 proposal to establish uniform rules governing determinations of the country of origin of imported merchandise. CBP has, however, issued a final rule revising the country of origin rules applicable to pipe fittings and flanges, greeting cards, glass optical fiber, rice preparations and certain textile and apparel products.
