Waiver of Late Accounting Penalties

Waiver of Late Accounting Penalties Changes that were made to the Customs Tariff as a result of the recent budget came into effect on March 5th, 2010, and, for goods released that day, the date for final accounting is March 12th, 2010. Given that updates to the CCS and CADEX formatted files are not scheduled to be completed until today, March 10th, we have asked CBSA to waive late accounting penalties for goods that are accounted for after the 12th.

CRA Interest rates for the second calendar quarter

CRA Interest rates for the second calendar quarter The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) announced the prescribed annual interest rates that will apply to amounts owed to the CRA and to amounts the CRA owes to individuals and corporations. These rates are calculated quarterly according to applicable legislation. The rates indicated below will be in effect from April 1, 2010 to June 30, 2010. Income tax The interest rate charged on overdue taxes, Canada Pension Plan contributions, and Employment Insurance premiums will be 5%.

Further to our note in yesterday's 2010 Federal Budget message, the following is a CBSA message (EDI10-014). Please be advised the changes outlined in Tariff Notice TN-49 are expected to be available for use in the Customs Commercial System (CCS) by March 10, 2010 and the CADEX formatted records should be on the CBSA website (www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/menu-eng.html) the day after. RMD Correctors and AMPS

RMD Correctors and AMPS CBSA has confirmed with CSCB that penalties should not be issued as a result of submitting an RMD Corrector. A request for a cancellation should be made for any penalty that is issued for this reason. Questions and comments can be sent to the CSCB at [email protected].

Tariff Notices TN-49-1; TN-49-2

CBSA has provided a copy of Tariff Notice 49-1, available in English at: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/TN-49-1.pdf and in French at: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/TN-49-1_fr.pdf. This notice relates to tariff changes made as a result of the 2010 Budget. Tariff Notice 49-2 has also been provided, and is available at: http://cscb.ca/listinfo/TN-49-2.pdf. This notice advises that there was an error in the Microsoft Access format, WinZip version of the Customs Tariff that was posted on the CBSA website on March 5, 2010.

CFIA Production Database Backup, 6 March This is a reminder that a full database backup of the production database (PROD) is scheduled for Saturday March 6th, 2010 CFIA systems will be unavailable from 3am to 7am EST. Please note that full database backups of the production database (PROD) are scheduled for the first Saturday of every month between 3am and 7am EST.
