In Russia, Canada should look for investment, not trade

The following is excerpted from a 12 March 2012 opinion piece in The Globe and Mail. As if in swift response to Prime Minister Vladimir Putin’s recent complaint about low levels of trade and investment between Russia and Canada, Ed Fast, the Minister of International Trade Minister, has quite rightly scheduled a trade mission to Saint Petersburg and Moscow in June.

Canada to defend its farmers in Pacific talks

Government of Canada Invests to Help Farmers Boost Soybean Exports

The following is excerpted from a 12 March 2012 news release by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada. The Government of Canada is supporting the development of new international markets for Canadian soybean farmers, Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz announced today. USDA seeks changes to beef import rules

Canadian trade surplus shrinks

The following is excerpted from the 9 March 2012 edition of CBC News. Canada's trade surplus fell to $2.1 billion in January as the value of exports fell, down from $2.9 billion the month before. However, it's the third consecutive monthly surplus. Total exports fell by 2.3 per cent, while imports edged down 0.6 per cent. Canada Welcomes US-Proposed Modernized Import Regulations for BSE

The following is excerpted from a 9 March 2012 news release by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. The Government of Canada welcomes the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) proposal to modernize its import regulations for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).
