CBSA Message: NRCan HS Codes

Further to the notice sent yesterday with the updated list of HS codes subject to NRCan regulations, the CSCB contacted NRCan to advise that some HS items were incomplete. As a result, the following message has been sent. The following is a CBSA message (EDI12-019 - Update)

Bank of Canada maintains overnight rate target at 1 per cent

The following is excerpted from an 8 March 2012 news release by the Bank of Canada. The Bank of Canada today announced that it is maintaining its target for the overnight rate at 1 per cent. The Bank Rate is correspondingly 1 1/4 per cent and the deposit rate is 3/4 per cent.

CBSA Message: NRCan HS Codes

Members will be pleased to know that the list of HS codes, subject to NRCan requirements, is now available in Excel format. Given that this list was not available before today, the CSCB is interested in hearing from members who may be aware of penalties assessed due to an incorrect service option being selected for items on this list that were not previously regulated by NRCan. Single Border Portal Tops Importers' Wish List

Conflicting Customs regulations contribute to cargo clearance delays With dozens of federal agencies having some degree of involvement in the cargo clearance process, importers are crying out for a single government portal at the border. Customs and Border Protection, the lead government agency at the border, agrees that importers have a legitimate gripe when it comes to the cargo clearance delays and the economic burden they face from redundant or conflicting regulations.

Chapter 39 was published to streamline the requirements for the following HS codes. 39.03.90 - Other 39.05.91 - Other: Copolymers 39.09.10 - Urea resins; thiourea resins The following HS Codes should not have been included in the February 7th update. 39.03.11 - Polystyrene: Expansible 39.03.19 - Polystyrene: Other 39.03.20 - Styrene-acrylonitrile (SAN) copolymers 39.03.30 - Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) copolymers
