The CSCB has followed up with CBSA regarding a revised D10-14-11. This memorandum addresses tariff items 9813.00.00 and 9813.00.00, and in January of 2011 members were advised to expect a revised D-memo early in 2012. CBSA has advised that no publication date has been set for the D10-14-11 replacement D-memo.

In Memoriam - Gaston Patry

The CSCB was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Gaston Patry. Mr. Patry passed away on February 27th. Until his retirement, Mr. Patry worked for his family customs brokerage firm, G.M. Patry Ltd. in Montreal and Toronto. Viewings took place on Sunday, March 4th from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Centre Funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 4525 chemin de la Côte-des- Neiges, (514) 342-8000. A funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, March 5th at 1:30 p.m. in Loyola Chapel (Concordia University), 7141 Sherbrooke Street West.

The Department of Finance announced today that Canada’s official international reserves increased by an amount equivalent to US$3,419 million during February to US$69,795 million. Details on the level and composition of Canada’s reserves as of February 29, 2012, as well as the major factors underlying the change in reserves, are provided below. All figures are in millions of US dollars unless otherwise noted.

Once again the Ontario and Toronto Divisions of the CSCB will be holding a joint annual conference. This year’s event will be held at the Waterside Inn in Port Credit on June 14-15.
