Canada's annual inflation rate in January edged up to 2.5 percent from 2.3 percent in December on higher prices for energy and transportation, Statistics Canada said on Friday. The following is a CBSA message (EDI12-014) Family Day – Monday, February 20, 2012 in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba; For the purposes of calculating the accounting period, February 20, 2012 will be considered a holiday for these provinces and any late accounting penalties will be waived without the client having to submit an application. This applies to transactions that were accounted for in the affected provinces and released between February 13, 2012 and February 20, 2012.

The following is excerpted from a 16 February 2012 release by Statistics Canada. Manufacturing sales advanced 0.6% to $49.9 billion in December, the fifth increase in six months. The transportation equipment industry led the gain. Sales increased in 12 of 21 industries representing about two-thirds of Canadian manufacturing. The gains occurred primarily in durable goods industries, where sales rose 2.1%. Sales of non-durable goods fell 0.9%.

Export allocations may be issued to eligible applicants. Export allocation eligibility criteria have been established after consultation with the respective provinces.
