Bitter battle rages over Canada's sugar industry

The following is excerpted from the 24 June 2012 edition of The Globe and Mail. Greaves Jams & Marmalades in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont., buys about 120 tonnes of sugar a year – enough to make 1 million jars of preserves. The Michigan legislature wouldn’t pay for its up-front share of $500-million? Not to worry. Mr. Harper has taken care of it.

Political hell hath no fury like dairy farmers aroused

The following is excerpted from the 22 June 2012 edition of The Globe and Mail. If you think the theatre of 100,000 people in the streets every night in Quebec, coupled with pot-banging and endless (largely sympathetic) media coverage, was over the top, wait until any federal government threatens supply management.
