An earlier message from CBSA indicated the tariff treatment code for goods originating under the CETA is 32.

In order to be prepared for the possible implementation of the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) updated its Tariff Code and Tariff Classification  files with the CETA data, showing an effective date of June 15, 2017.  However, any entries submitted claiming the benefits of a CETA tariff treatment will be rejected until such time as CETA comes into force and the CBSA updates the Country Code file to reflect eligible countries.   Global Affairs Canada has yet to announce, or advise the CBSA of, the implementation date for CETA.  We apologize for any confusion created, the CBSA was simply readying its systems to facilitate the eventual implementation of CETA.

These updated files are being posted on the internet (http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/trade-commerce/tariff-tarif/2017/cadex-eng.html) in order that you will be able to install  accept the upcoming T-2017-3 July 1, 2017 Tariff amendment package that will provide rate updates on 59 tariff items relating to the existing Canada-EFTA Free Trade Agreement (i.e., the IT, NT & SLT tariff treatment) and the Information Technology Agreement Expansion, 2016.  Details will be available in the related Customs Notice on the CBSA website.

To avoid any system issues, it is recommended that you update your systems prior to the automatic download of T-2017-3 July 1 updates scheduled for batch processing on June 30, 2017.

In the past, TCCU has been providing the Expiries in the form of “AA” records.  Please note because of the size and magnitude of this file, they will be in the form of “GA” records.  The updates will also be GA records, which is the same way you have always received them.
