Proposal to Eliminate Tariff on Certain Polyester Fabrics used in Manufacture of Sleeping Bags

Finance Canada is seeking members’ views on a request the Department has received to eliminate the tariff on certain polyester fabrics used in the manufacture of sleeping bags. We are proposing to add a tariff line breakout to subheading No. 5407.54. The proposed item would read as follows:

5407.54.10 -- for use in the manufacture of sleeping bags

The products that would fall under the new tariff item are currently classified under tariff item No. 5407.54.00 and are dutiable at a rate of 14% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff.

Members with an interest in this matter should contact Sean Clarke in the International Trade Policy Division by 6 May 2008, at 613.996.5538, or by e-mail at [email protected].
