CN 17-13, Notification of Canadian International Trade Tribunal Hearing on Assisted Opening Knives

1. This Notice is to advise interested parties that the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has scheduled a hearing to consider whether two particular assisted opening knives are prohibited weapons.

2. The case relates to knives which have two thumb studs on the blade, independent of the handle, which engage an internal torsion mechanism (i.e. assisted opening) to open the knife blade. Following the hearing, the CITT will decide whether these knives are prohibited which might impact future importation of such goods.
