Due to the current labour disruption, the Business Enquiries line at the CRA is closed. The CRA is prioritizing calls related to benefit payments that the CRA administers, which includes income tax enquiries related to benefit entitlements. Canadians can expect increased wait times to reach a CRA service representative. 

While you're unable to call to register for a new business number, you are still able to register online. Instructions on how to register online can be found here.

CRA has posted that as a result of labour disruptions, certain CRA services will be delayed or unavailable. Even though you can still register, there may be delays in receiving the new business number.
