Fee cap extended for certain animal health export certificates

October 1, 2015

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has extended a fee remission for certain animal health export certificates. The remission will continue a cap of $75 on export certification fees for certain live animals including swine, cattle, flightless birds, poultry, hatching eggs, horses, sheep and goats, as well as mammalian embryos until September 30, 2017. The fee cap is specific to those export certification fees that are currently charged on a per-unit basis with no upper limit.

This remission extends the current cap while the CFIA reviews its fee structure. The CFIA continues to work towards modernizing its service standards and user fees, so as to better align them with the actual cost of delivering services.

The fee remission will not affect the level of inspection or animal health services provided by the CFIA.
