New Cabinet Appointments Announced

The Prime Minister has announced changes to the Cabinet, and expressed his gratitude for the service and contribution made by the following Ministers who are leaving the Cabinet:

The Honourable Sergio Marchi
The Honourable Diane Marleau
The Honourable Marcel Massé
The Honourable Christine Stewart
The Honourable Fred J. Mifflin

Highlights of yesterday's announcement include the following changes.

New Appointments to the Cabinet

The Prime Minister welcomed the following new members of his Cabinet:

The Honourable Martin Cauchon as Minister of National Revenue and Secretary of State (Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec)

The Honourable George Baker as Minister of Veterans Affairs and Secretary of State (Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency)

The Honourable Robert Nault as Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development

The Honourable Maria Minna as Minister for International Cooperation

The Honourable Elinor Caplan as Minister of Citizenship and Immigration.

The Prime Minister also announced the following changes of responsibilities of present members of the Ministry:

The Honourable David Anderson as Minister of the Environment

The Honourable Lucienne Robillard as President of the Treasury Board and Minister Responsible for Infrastructure

The Honourable Jane Stewart as Minister of Human Resources Development

The Honourable Pierre Pettigrew as Minister for International Trade

The Honourable Herb Dhaliwal as Minister of Fisheries and Oceans
