New Tariff -- CN 9200

The following message is from CN’s customer service centre.

Effective December 12, 2005, CN introduced a new tariff - CN 9200. This tariff relates to CN's trucking services performed by CNTL - CN Transport Limited.

As noted in Jim Foote's message of October 14, 2005, the intent is to provide customers with a clear, concise and market based tariff, outlining CNTL's trucking services and associated charges. Moreover, the general rules associated with our trucking services are itemized.

With the introduction of CN 9200, CN's International and Domestic tariffs (CN 7589 and CN 9100, respectively) were changed to remove most references to trucking services. CN 9100 still contains reference to trucking charges effective when the trucking services are bundled with the rail line-haul service and charges. CN 9200 will be used when trucking services are billed separately, and to outline the rules associated with trucking.

Amongst other items, CN 9200 contains the following:

Credit terms - 15 days

Currency - chargeable in currency of country where service provided.

Shunting charges - $15 per 15 minutes

Documentation charge - $50 per document requested.

Helper charges - $100 per helper.

Layover charge - $200

Driver wait time & charges - after one hour free - $15 per
15 minutes;

Chassis detention - after 48 hours - $30 per day.

Basic trucking charges per terminal - local and highway moves

International Export Reservation and Trucking service.

Charges for additional pick-ups and deliveries.

Drayage charges related to Vancouver Island, Newfoundland, and PEI.

CN 9200 is available on CN's web site and may be accessed using the following

Included below are some Questions and Answers relative to CN 9200 and its application.

Q. I ship import and export containers. Does CN offer its trucking services?
A. Yes, CNTL has considerable experience in handling both import deliveries and export pick-ups. Service at competitive prices are offered 7/24. These services and charges are contained in CN 9200

Q. I ship private containers domestically within Canada. Sometimes I need short-term help with additional trucking services. Can CNTL help out?
A. Yes. Assuming we have the short-term capacity of drivers and chassis, CNTL may be able to help out. We can confirm with you when you submit your request.
Charges for these services are in CN 9200.

Q. I currently ship door-to-door using CN equipment. Do the charges in CN 9200 apply to my shipments? And will I be billed separately?
A. No. Your rates are published separately using the drayage cost factors in CN 9100. Your CN freight invoice will reflect the complete door-to-door pricing. As such, trucking will not be billed separately.

Q. My current agreement with CN contains both door-to-door and door-to-ramp rates. If I ship a container billed as door-to-ramp and then determine that I require CN door delivery at destination, what will I be charged.
A. If the billing was door-to-ramp, then CNTL will charge you separately for the destination door delivery using CN 9200. It is important that your billing be accurate when the container is tendered to CN.

Q. Sometimes I request the CN driver to shunt a container in my yard. The charges for this used to be in CN 7589 and CN 9100. Where are they published now?
A. These supplemental services and charges are now in CN 9200, and they've been removed from CN 7589 and CN 9100.
