UPS changes carrier code for Highway imports through Fort Erie, Windsor and Montreal

May 27, 2014

UPS traditionally uses two carrier codes for HVS highway house bills; 8156 for West imports (Winnipeg and Vancouver) and 2571 for Central and East imports (Fort Erie, Windsor and Montreal).  Effective June 1, 2014 UPS will be transitioning  to the carrier code prefix of 8156 and removing 2571.  Note – this has no impact on air imports.

For UPS highway shipments importing via Fort Erie, Windsor and Montreal,  Brokers will start seeing this transition within the Import Clearance Alert (ICA) website effective June 1 for US volume enroute to Canada on a pre-arrival basis.  Continue to process under the carrier code posted within ICA as this will align with the carrier arrival process with no interruption.  During this transition period you will notice this trend increasing till June 8 whereby all highway imports will reflect 8156.

UPS appreciates your assistance during this week transition.
