U.S. intelligence agency, along with various other departments, to aid center

The White House on Tuesday announced the formation of a trade enforcement center to ensure exporters’ trading rights achieved through international agreements and protect exporters from other countries’ unfair trade practices.

The center, which will reside within the office of the U.S. Trade Representative, will draw support and information from the departments of State, Treasury, Justice, Agriculture, Commerce, Homeland Security and the U.S. intelligence community.

The center will coordinate enforcement of U.S. rights under international trade agreements, exchange information about potential trade violations, and work with industry to identify and reduce trade barriers or unfair foreign trade practices, according to President Obama’s executive order.
