Correction: Tariff elimination on certain polyester fleece fabric for manufacture of yarn

Further to our message on 30 January, DoF has sent a correction. The word ‘weight ’was replaced with ‘width’, as highlighted below.

The Department of Finance is seeking your views on a request it received to eliminate the tariff on certain polyester fleece fabric for use in the manufacture of yarn. DoF is proposing to add a duty-free tariff line to subheading No. 6001.22.00. The proposed item would read as follows:

6001.22.10 ---Weft knit fabrics, of a width exceeding 175 cm, not impregnated, coated, covered or laminated, solely of brushed polyester fibres, of a weight exceeding 260 g/m2 but not exceeding 290 g/m2, for use in the manufacture of yarn

The products that would fall under the new tariff item are currently classified under tariff item No. 6001.22.00 and are dutiable at a rate of 14% under the Most-Favoured-Nation (MFN) Tariff.
