Working together to facilitate your return to Canada
September 3, 2010
Travellers have spoken and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is listening. Since launching border wait times on Twitter this summer, the CBSA continues to receive positive feedback.
Thanks to your comments and suggestions, we have upgraded the postings of our border wait times (BWT) on Twitter. The CBSA now offers travellers individual accounts for each of the 22 border crossings that report BWT information. Users can follow one or more accounts specific to their travel plans.
As the long weekend is upon us, the CBSA reminds travellers that they can facilitate their return to Canada by keeping these tips in mind:
Plan ahead
- Plan your return to Canada and check BWT on the CBSA Web site at: www.cbsa.gc.ca. Border wait times are available on Twitter at: www.twitter.com/CBSA_BWT and a list of the individual accounts can be found at http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/new-neuf/twitter-eng.html.
Carry proper identification
- Have proper identification for yourself and children travelling with you.
Declare your purchases
- Declare all purchases made and have your receipts readily available.
Inform yourself of personal exemptions
- Know your personal exemptions and your alcohol and tobacco limits.
Know before you go
- Certain goods are prohibited or restricted from entering Canada. Find out more about this by consulting the I Declare brochure, available at: http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5056-eng.html.
- The CBSA wishes you happy travels and a safe return to Canada.
